It wasn't the prettiest of games, but the end result is a bowl win for the Thundering Herd. Marshall topped FIU 20-10 in a game that featured 13 penalties.
MU kicker Tyler Warner opened the scoring with a 37-yard field goal with 6:37 remaining in the first quarter. The Golden Panthers took the lead with 1:31 left in the opening quarter when T.Y. Hilton scored from two-yards out to go up 7-3.
After FIU added a field goal to go up 10-3 in the second quarter, the Herd tied things up at 10-10 when Rakeem Cato hit Aaron Dobson for a 31-yard touchdown strike.
A scoreless third quarter gave way to a 10-point fourth for Marshall. Warner connected from 39-yards out and with 30 seconds remaining and facing a fourth down, Cato once again found Dobson for a 35-yard touchdown.
Cato finished with 224 yards and two touchdowns, both of which went to Dobson. Cato completed passes to seven different receivers. Dobson lead the pack with seven receptions for 81 yards. On the ground, Tron Martinez rushed for 58 yards. Marshall finishes the season with a 7-6 record.
