Hokie Kicker Arrested

BLACKSBURG, Va. -

Virginia Tech kicker Cody Journell is being charged with Breaking and Entering after being arrested Wednesday night. The Virginia Tech Athletic Director said the redshirt sophomore is suspended indefinitely.

In a preliminary hearing, Journell was denied bail. Police are calling what happened an alleged home invasion. The invasion took place at the residence of Hokie basketball player Dorenzo Hudson. Journell was arrested along with two other men, neither of which are on the Virginia Tech football team.

Journell was an honorable mention All-ACC kicker. He converted 14 of 17 field-goal attempts this season.

Blacksburg, Virginia, December 22, 2011 -On December 21, 2011 at approximately

9:53pm Blacksburg Police responded to a residence just outside of the downtown

area in reference to a physical altercation. An investigation into an alleged

home invasion began shortly thereafter and resulted in the arrests of three

Blacksburg men.

 

Cody J. Journell, 20 years of age, Matthew D. Dunton, 23 years of age, and

Matthew I Brady, 21 years of age; were each charged with Breaking and Entering

under Virginia Code 18.2-91. Each charge is a Class 2 Felony due to the

alleged use of a dangerous weapon.

 

All three men are currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County

Jail.

 

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
