Sugar Bowl Was A Sweet Surprise

Posted: Updated:

Bowl analysts and armchair quarterbacks weren't the only ones surprised to see Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl-so were the players and staff. Most of the Hokies found out their bowl destiny during the live announcement on television. Now, No. 11 Virginia Tech takes on No. 13 on January 3 in New Orleans.

The Hokies went 11-2, with both losses coming against Clemson. The most recent loss to the Tigers was a 38-10 defeat in the ACC Championship game. The Wolverines are 10-2 and finished the season on a three-game win streak.
