Virginia Tech's season didn't feature a game played indoors. For the first time this season, the Hokies will play in a dome.

The Sugar Bowl takes place in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. Tech is 2-3 in the dome. Its victories came against Tulane in 1983 and Texas in 1995. The Hokies lost to Tulane in 1987, Florida State in 2000 and Auburn in 2005.

This is the first time the Hokies and Wolverines will meet. Virginia Tech has only played against a team from the Big 10 one time.
