Woodrow Wilson was confident about what this year would bring. After all, Beckley has won 16 state titles.

The Flying Eagles won their first eight games. That streak to open the season placed the team in the top spot of Class AAA. In their first game with that ranking, they fell to South Charleston 61-45.

While defense is the calling card of Woodrow basketball, the team is working on eliminating mistakes on offense-especially limiting turnovers.

Beckley hits the road for its next game at Hurricane on Thursday.
