"I'm trading places here at the bowling alley," explained Lauren Weppler who was spending the afternoon working at Leisure Lanes in Beckley for Trading Places.

Weppler was guided through her day from co-owner Mary Dixon. Dixon and her husband bought the bowling alley 11 years ago.  Dixon said now is the time to have extra help around the bowling alley because the winter months are the busiest season.

Dixon showed Weppler how to operate the computer system to allow bowlers to compete against one another.

Once all the bowlers were signed up and accounted for the senior bowling league it was time to make an announcement on the loud speaker.  "Lanes 7 through 24 hold up on your practice. When your arrows comes down you can begin in your league competition," said Weppler.

Weppler also had to learn how to man the desk by giving out proper equipment and answering questions bowlers had.

For Mary Dixon owner of Leisure Lanes the right perky attitude is a necessity for the job. "I learn something new everyday it's interesting the stories I hear. It's like an extended family," said Dixon.
