OAK HILL -
An investigation into a missing teen in Fayette County ends with a burglary arrest.
Sheriff's Deputies were looking into at possible runaway case in the Hilltop area at around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24 when the teen was recognized by his mother in a vehicle that pulled up to a nearby pawn shop. In the car were 2 other juveniles and Kevin Goodman, Jr., 19, of Oak Hill.
While investigators identified the people inside the vehicle they smelled marijuana and called in a K-9 unit. During the search they discovered two guns, a video game console, several video games and a small amount of marijuana.
Those items and several other guns were reported missing from a nearby home on Prudence Road while the Deputies were speaking to the occupants of the vehicle. The guns that were not found in the vehicle were discovered at a home in Oak Hill.
Deputies arrested Goodman, Jr.and charged him with Burglary, Grand Larceny, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. Deputies said that the preliminary investigation indicates that the three juveniles in the car were also involved.
The juveniles range in age from 15 to 17. They were released to their parents and deputies said that juvenile petitions will be filed later this week. They will be charged with Burglary, Grand Larceny and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony.
"It's not often that you get a chance to make an arrest and recover stolen property before the victim realizes that his home has been burglarized," said Sheriff Steve Kessler. "In this case, our Deputies just happened to be in the right place at the right time."
