Original story:
A joint effort by local law enforcement lead to the arrest of 9 wanted persons early Friday morning in Fayette County.
According to a press release from Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler, officers with the Fayette County Sheriffs Office worked with the U.S. Marshals "Cops United Felony Fugitive Enforcement Division" (C.U.F.F.E.D.) to serve 27 felony warrants and 11 misdemeanor warrants on 9 Fayette County individuals.
The C.U.F.F.E.D. Task Force includes officers from the Raleigh, Greenbrier and Fayette County Sheriffs departments, as well as the Beckley Police and U.S. Marshall's Office. The task force is designed to allow members of regional police forces to work together to serve warrants outside of their normal jurisdictions.
"Several members of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office have been sworn in as Special Deputy U.S. Marshals," Kessler said in the press release. "These Deputies can be called upon to go to other counties and jurisdictions to assist other law enforcement agencies…in apprehending fugitives."
Names of those arrested and the charges they face are expected to be released Friday evening.
