Several schools in Southern W.Va. are
set to participate in the first-ever Digital Learning Day, which gives them an
opportunity to learn math, science, engineering and technology through an
innovative program that includes designing their own educational video games.
Globaloria is a social networking platform designed to help
students learn about a variety of subjects by collaborating with teachers and
peers to design educational video games that they can then share with people
across the world.
Oak Hill, Fayetteville,
Greenbrier East and West, Monroe County,
Liberty and Woodrow
Wilson High Schools
will be participating in the Digital Learning Day, along with Eastern
Greenbrier Middle School
and Monroe County
Technical Center.
Former W.Va. Govenor Bob Wise, now President of Globaloria
partner the Alliance for Excelent
Education, is excited to promote Digital Learning Day throughout the Mountain
State and the rest of the country.
"This day will challenge education professionals and
policymakers al all levels to start a conversation, make a proclamation, or
create a plan," said Wise. "Digital Learning Day is more than just a day. It is
about building a digital learning movement that provides teachers with better
tools to truly provide a quality education for every child."
More than 2,000 youth in 60 schools and community centers
across the nation will participate in the Digital Learning Day activities.
