BECKELY -
The Raleigh County Humane Society will work together with
one local restaurant to help raise money needed to keep the shelter
operational.
On Thursday, February 9, any customer who eats at Bob Evans
Restaurant on Harper Park Drive
in Beckley and presents a flier for
the Humane Society's "Eat for Pete" fundraiser will have 15% of their purchase
donated to the humane society.
Representatives from the Humane Society say that all
proceeds from the fund raiser, named after a dog that is currently available
for adoption, will go toward replenishing the shelter's medical fund. This fund
helps cover the cost of veterinary care and provides vaccinations for
newly-adopted animals. Veterinary bills for the shelter can be quite high.
During January, three emergency cases alone cost the shelter over $2,000.
"We are grateful for businesses like Bob Evans," said Humane
Society Volunteer Erica Bradley.
In addition to the 59 News website, fliers are available at
the Raleigh County Humane Society office at 325 Gray Flats Road in Beckley,
at Pet Supplies Plus on Eisenhower Drive,
or by request through their Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/RaleighCountyHumaneSociety.
