Fans and players at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center witnessed more than just a 71-52 Woodrow Wilson win over St. Albans.
They saw the end of an era.
Bill O'Brien has called Beckley sporting events for 43 years, but he broadcasted his final Woodrow basketball game Wednesday. O'Brien says he's been on the mic for close to 1,000 Flying Eagle basketball games.
O'Brien has a grandson on the way in Kansas City, and thought it was the right time to step away.
He is unsure if he will be back on the microphone once football season rolls around.
