Team registration ends this weekend for the Wendy's/YMCA Biddy-Buddy All-Star Tournament.

In its fourth decade, the tournament serves as the ultimate showdown for elite youth basketball players across the region.

It hosts 4th through 8th grades teams, along with their families.

This year's tournament is set to tip off on Friday, March 2, but team registration ends Saturday.

Daniel Vass, director of the tournament, expects to see many familiar faces, along with a few new teams in this year's competition schedule.

"Plans are in full swing at this point and we are excited to host this year's tournament," Vass said. "As a kid, I participated and know the lasting memories the players make."

The Y has experienced an increase in support and participation from area businesses looking to reach tournament visitors.

Teams will play at area game sites, including the Y and Mountain State University's Van Meter Gymnasium.

Registration forms can be found on the Y's website at http://www.ymcaswv.com/id149.html.
