CHARLESTON -

West Virginia Birth to Three, a statewide system of services and support for families and children under age 3 who are at risk of having developmental delays, is preparing to celebrate their 20th anniversary. As part of the celebration, they're seeking testimonials from parents and children who have benefited from their services during the program's tenure.

In the late 1980s, the W.Va. Department of Health and Human Resources Office of Maternal, Child and Family Health along with the W. Va. Early Intervention Interagency Coordinating Council began development of West Virginia's Birth to Three program in line with the federal Individuals with Disabilities Act.

The program links over 600 practitioners across all 55 counties in the state, to offer services to all eligible infants and toddlers, and has received the highest possible rating from the U.S. Department of Education.

As part of their 20th anniversary celebration, W.Va. Birth to Three is seeking stories, videos and pictures from families of children who have benefited from the program. These stories and pictures will be used at a celebration and slide show, recognizing the program's accomplishments.

A special phone number has been set up for families to call and share their stories. Those interested can call (304) 278-4223. Stories and video can all be shared through the West Virginia Birth to Three website, http://www.wvdhr.org/birth23.
