PRINCETON -
A young boy's struggle with an illness that attacks the immune system is enjoying a night off from being the 'sick kid.'
This Princeton Middle School student is enjoying a night as an average student.
What an inspiration young man, Konner Lively is.
He suffers from Common Variable Immune Deficiency, a disease that effects the immune system.
Advances in medicine are helping this student enjoy the little things in life.
"The initials stand for the disease which he has which is Common Variable Immune Deficiency and he thinks it bites," Kim Lively, mother of Konner said.
A disease that effects the immune system making is easier to catch an illness is what Konner Lively suffers from.
But tonight with the help from advances in medicine Konner gets to experience something most kids take for granted.
"I'm nervous but I feel really good," Konner Lively said.
Dressed in a tie and shirt this 8th grader is finally getting to experience his first middle school dance.
"I couldn't go outside, I couldn't do much, I couldn't be around friends," he continued.
Konner's mother Kim has to tell her child 'no,' so many times but tonight all that changed.
"We decided that we're just going go let him try it and let him be a kid tonight," Kim said.
Konner parent's Kim and Bill strive to allow Konner to lead a normal life and say humor is the best medicine.
"He is just so funny with his illness he is sick so much but he just can think of the funniest things," Bill Lively said.
Konner is encouraged by Doctors to wear a medicinal mask in certain situations, but this comedians prefers to wear a gorilla mask instead proving laughter can sometimes be the best medicine.
