After 36 years of dedicated service to the Beaver Volunteer Fire Department, Jimmy Shannon's fellow firefighters celebrated his accomplishments with a surprise birthday party.

Feb. 18, the fire department honored Shannon and awarded him with a "Fire Officer One Certificate."

He said he was overwhelmed and humbled by the party and looks forward to continuing working for the department.

"I was kind of surprised," said Shannon through a chuckle."I wasn't expecting this I see a lot of people here from different departments that know me!"

Shannon was greeted by family and friends and those with the fire department.

He was also given numerous awards celebrating his accomplishments.

Shannon plans on continuing to serve as Deputy Chief.
