PRINCETON -
People in Mercer County who are without power will have a chance to get a hot meal and a warm place to stay tonight.
The Salvation Army in Princeton and Bluefield are hosting a dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21. They will also be open to let people take shelter there until the power is back on.
Lt. Mike Michels with the Salvation Army said this idea sprung out of the amount of calls they received seeking help.
"We are always looking for ways to provide needs to the community and this week we became aware this was a very big need and this is something that everybody says they need and we will see who actually shows up but we will be ready for them," Lt. Michels said.
Michels said food will be donated by Wal-Mart and the Bluefield Union Mission.
Cots will be donated by the Red Cross and folks are just asked to bring their own bedding.
