BECKLEY -
Authorities across our
area are joining forces to sweep the streets of prescription pills.
After more than 20
pounds of pills were collected through the prescription pill drop box set up at
the Greenbrier County courthouse, three other
Sheriff's departments are following suit.
Tuesday, Raleigh,
Monroe, and Summers County Sheriffs announced the installment of three new
boxes in their counties.
According to Monroe
County Sheriff, Mike Gravely, proper disposal of the pills is critical to
protecting the water supply.
He's
urging anyone with surplus pills to drop them off at one of the four
locations.
"It's
highly important. These drugs are running our lives, our children's lives.
They're running everybody's lives. And we have been hardworking trying to get
these drugs off the streets."
The
prescription pill drop off box for Raleigh County will be located in the
Raleigh County Sheriff's Department Law Enforcement Division on Eisenhower Drive, while the two other
drop boxes will be located at the Monroe County Sheriff's Department and Summers
County Court house.
