Senator Joe Manchin and a panel of experts are looking for ways to retool higher education, to better meet the changing job market.
The group met for roundtable Wednesday, brainstorming ways to make school more affordable and job placement more effective.
Marshall University president Stephen Kopp says it puts the state's higher education leaders in direct touch with Washington.
"I thought this was a very productive and worthwhile exchange. It gives us the opportunity to tell someone in Washington what higher education and public higher education is facing," said Stephen Kopp, President of Marshall University.
Senator Manchin said he wants Washington to help schools better match resources to priorities.
