Dance Classes Return to Stonewall Jackson Resort

ROANOKE, W.Va -

West Virginia Dance, Inc. will make a return performance at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, W.Va., Lewis County.

Organizers said they decided to bring back ballroom and Latin dance weekends after the previous events were such a success.

"After our very successful January dance weekend at Stonewall earlier this year we are looking forward to our March weekend at Stonewall," said Craig Giffin, president of WV Dance.  "We find that these weekends are an enjoyable getaway for people and Stonewall Resort features great facilities for our events and our guests, including wonderful restaurants for the participants.  I particularly enjoyed the cheesecake and the made-to-order breakfast buffet the last time we were at Stonewall."

The classes are scheduled for March 30-April 1, 2012.

The weekend is geared both towards people who have never tried ballroom and  Latin dancing before, but who wish to now do so in a friendly, non-competitive setting, and also those who are more experienced but are looking to refine their skills and also to enjoy multiple dances that are part of the weekend.

The weekend begins March 30 with evening lessons in East Coast Swing and will be followed by a dance party featuring all different forms of both Latin and ballroom dances.  Saturday activities include dance lessons in Cha Cha and Ballad as well as an evening dance.  There is no dress code for the weekend, but guests are encouraged to wear shoes with either a leather or suede sole to them to facilitate ease of movement.

Steve Ludwig, director of sales and marketing at Stonewall Resort, noted that dance weekend guests "enjoy not only the dance instruction but also the camaraderie that develops among the participants."  Giffin noted that several students from both in-state and out-of-state have attended the multiple workshops that WV Dance has held at Stonewall and also in other parts of West Virginia.  "Customers from as far away as North Carolina keep coming back to the various dance weekends that we have held first at Pipestem then later at the Stonewall and Greenbrier resorts here in West Virginia."

The weekend package costs $285 per couple or $221.50 for singles and includes all dance instruction, overnight lodging on Friday and Saturday nights and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
