BECKLEY -
The Grand Jury for the United States Southern District of
West Virginia issued three indictments Thursday, including two cases from the
WVNS viewing area.
Brandon Elliot, 21, an inmate at the Federal Correctional
Institution in Beckley faces
charges of possession of a weapon by an inmate, a federal offense. According to
a press release from Assistant U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin's office, Elliot was
found in possession of a "shank" on January
23, 2012.
If convicted, Elliot faces an additional charge of 5 years imprisonment
and up to $250,000 in fines. The case is being investigated by the Bureau of
Prisons.
Also indicted Wednesday was William Edward Crawford, 45, of Port
Orange Florida. According to
Grand Jury documents, on March 8, 2011
Crawford was found in possession of a significant quantity of oxycodone in the
area of Beaver in Raleigh County.
On the same day, Edwards was found in possession of a .25
caliber handgun. In addition to the
charge of possession with intent to distribute oxycodone, he faces an addition
charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
If convicted, Edwards faces up to 30 years in prison and a
fine of up to $1,250,000.
Also indicted Wednesday was 34-year-old Clifford Stafford of
Akron, Ohio,
who faces up to 20 years in prison for possession of cocaine with intent to
distribute. He was arrested December 14, 2011 in South Charleston.
