ATHENS -

The following is a press release from Concord University:

Under head coach Stefani Workman, Concord's women's soccer team has enjoyed playing on its home pitch.

The Lady Lions are 10-4 at Anderson Field in Workman's two seasons in Athens, including a 6-1 mark last year.

That home field advantage will take on added importance in 2012. Concord will play six of its final seven regular-season matches at Anderson Field, part of the schedule Workman announced today.

The Lady Lions will also begin their season at home, hosting the Concord Kickoff Classic starting Thursday, August 30. Concord will host East Stroudsburg University (PA) at 3:00 pm that day, and will meet Kutztown University (PA) at 12:00 pm on Saturday, September 1.
Tusculum College (TN) will be the Classic's fourth team.

The season-ending stretch of home matches begins with a non-conference contest against Ferrum College (VA) on October 4, and includes three WVIAC opponents – Davis & Elkins (October 7), West Liberty (October 16) and Seton Hill (October 24). West Liberty has added women's soccer starting in the 2012 season.

Concord's WVIAC opener will be Saturday, September 8, when the Lady Lions visit West Virginia Wesleyan for a 7:00 pm kickoff.

CU's WVIAC home opener is set for Sunday, September 16, against Shepherd at 12:00 pm. CU's other conference home match will be against the University of Charleston on September 25.

Concord will visit defending WVIAC champion Alderson-Broaddus at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 22. CU will also travel to Wheeling Jesuit and Ohio Valley.

The WVIAC Women's Soccer Tournament begins on Monday, October 29.
