Montgomery Man Arrested on Prescription Drug Charges

A Fayette County man is facing charges selling prescription drugs, following his arrest Tuesday in Montgomery.

According to a press release from Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler, at approximately 3:47 p.m. on Tuesday, Detective-Sergeant S. M. Gray and Detective-Corporal R. K. Perdue were conducting a drug investigation in Montgomery.

During the investigation, the officers received a tip that there was a man attempting to sell drugs in the area of 60 4th Street. The detectives went to the scene to investigate, and located a man matching the tipster's description.

While speaking with the man, identified as Michael Lee Chadwell, detectives found a small cylinder concealed within his clothing that contained two different types of prescription medication. Chadwell stated that the "found" the container and did not know what was inside it. He went on to admit that the medication had not been prescribed to him.

Officers placed Chadwell under arrest and charged him with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver. He was arraigned in the Magistrate Court of Fayette County and released on a $50,000 bond.
