The following is a press release from Concord University:

For the second time in less than a month, Concord's Shawnee Carnett is the WVIAC's Track
Athlete of the Week.

Carnett earned the award after her showing in the 1500 meters in the Raleigh Relays last weekend. The junior from Sugar Grove, VA covered the distance in 4:35.33, provisionally qualifying for next month's outdoor National Championship meet in Pueblo, CO.

The defending national champion in the 800 meters, Carnett provisionally qualified in that event with a time of 2:13.21 at the Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, SC on March 17-18. She earned conference AOW honors for that performance on March 22.

Concord's track and field teams will compete in the Duke Invitational in Durham, NC this Friday and Saturday, April 6-7. Links to the event schedule and real-time results are included in the navigation bar at the top of both the men's and women's team homepages on Concord's official athletics website cumountainlions.com.
