BECKLEY -

Thursday at the Raleigh County Library, officials announced that one of the Beckley library's conference rooms will be dedicated to longtime friend of the library Joan Tomasek.

Tomasek says that she's been volunteering for the library for over 15 years, helping coordinate book sales, sort donated books and otherwise assist in the library's operations.

She says that, as a book lover, she's always felt a genuine sense of community at the library, and was genuinely touched when she found out about the room being dedicated to her.

"So slowly, more and more, I was sorting books and doing that, and I've been doing it for years and then all of a sudden they surprised me. So it was….well…it was kind of, you know, teary," said Tomasek.

The room dedicated to Tomasek has a wide range of uses, from hosting library board meetings to home schooling classes and tutoring.
