CHARLESTON -

The West Virginia primary election is less than a month away, and if you haven't registered to vote yet, there is an even more pressing deadline.

West Virginians who are looking to have their voice heard on May 8 only have around 24 hours to sign up.  The deadline to get your name on the voter roles in Tuesday, April 17.

Secretary of State Natalie Tennant encourages citizens to register.

"It's the first step in having their voices heard," said Tennant.  "They get registered to vote an then they are eligible to vote during early voting or on election day."
