BECKLEY -

The week of April 15 has been set aside as the National Days of Remembrance – a time to remember the nearly 6 million people killed by Nazi Germany during the Holocaust.

Angel Almond, a Concord University student, has set up an exhibit at the Erma Byrd Center in Beckley, telling the stories of 12 individuals who were victims of the holocaust.

Almond says that it's important to remember the atrocities committed during World War 2, to make sure that such an event never happens again.

"I took it on because I feel like it's important for people to know that what they do matters," said Almond. "That, even in the United States, there are kids who are bullied and are killing themselves all the time, or you hear about a hate crime, so it's important for people to realize that that's same the way the holocaust started."

Anyone interested in this exhibit can visit the atrium of the Erma Byrd Center in Beckley. It will be on display for the remainder of this week.
