Fayette County Commissioners are in the process of getting better cellphone coverage throughout the county in hopes of doing so, before the boy scouts arrive for the jamboree in 2013.
An independent contractor, Sam Black, was asked to survey the county for the best areas for a cell phone tower to be erected.
Commissioners want to have better services residents in Boomer, Gauley Bridge and Smithers.
Commissioner John Lopez addressed the immediate needs, "these people are desperate for phone services."
Black made the suggestion before the commission on Tuesday to have the commission formally write a request to all cell phone carriers to gain interest for the best possible service for the region. "I'm just a little guy, you have the voice of the county," Black told Commissioners.
"You have to have a plan for the big picture not just the small picture," said Black.
The County's Zoning Enforcement Officer, Tim Richardson, was also with Black to address the commission on the concerns of the getting better phone service to the people of Fayette County
Richardson advises the public to contact their carriers to demand better coverage to help assist the commission in getting the word out to providers.
Both men told commissioners it would take a year for the entire process to be completed.
Commissioner Lopez responded to Black and Richardson, "whatever you need we'll step up to the plate."
