Former Fairmont Police Officer Pleads Guilty In Child Abuse Case

A former Fairmont and Granville police officer has pleaded guilty in a 2010 child abuse case.

Arlie Ashby was originally charged with child abuse causing injury for beating an eight year old girl with a belt.

Ashby pleaded guilty to a lesser included offense of contributing to the neglect of a child and said he never meant to hurt the child.

Judge David Janes ordered Ashby to pay a $500 fine along with court costs and attorney fees.
