Authorities at the Beckley Correctional Facility are searching for a missing inmate. Joshua Greenwood was reported missing late Monday night. Guards say he was unaccounted for in a 10:15 p.m. head count.
A press release from the West Virginia Division of Corrections indicates that, as of Wednesday afternoon, Joshua Greenwood has been captured.

In Fayette County a man was arrested the evening of Tuesday April 17, 2012.

The incident occurred in the Meadow Bridge area around 11:20 P.M.

Allegedly 27 year old, Verl Bernard Cooper Jr., got into an altercation with his mother, 56 year old Joyce Lynn Smith.

According to police, Cooper cut his mothers neck with a knife.

The victim declined medical attention at the scene.

Cooper was arrested and charged with malicious wounding.

He was transported to Southern Regional Jail pending his arraignment in the Fayette County Magistrate Court. The incident apparently stemmed from a domestic argument between the victim and her son.

It is unclear whether or not drugs or alcohol were factors in the stabbing.

It remains under investigation by Corporal J.R. McMullen of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
