Our Own Tim Carrico Achieves Goal

Around the station at 59 News Tim Carrico is something of a jack-of-all trades he produces, anchors, and directs shows, but now scholarship recipient can be added to the list.

Tuesday, Carrico was awarded the Bob and Colleen Dishon Scholarship at Ohio University.

The scholarship was started in 2009 for a student who is going into the print and broadcast field to help pay for tuition at $32,000.

Carrico was one of three finalists up for the scholarship. An essay and oral speech had to be given by all of the applicants.

Carrico said he read the news in an email, "I was the winner of the scholarship it was $32,000 which is something I can't even imagine."

Carrico and his parents, Karen and Tim, have been on the search for the right college for years now.

"It is going to help us financially being two teachers and out of state tuition is extremely high so we were really excited this will be a help for him," said Tim's mother Karen Carrico.

Carrico attributes his scholarship to his many opportunities at 59 News, "I don't think I ever would have got the scholarships that I have, and I have 59 to thank for a lot of that."

Carrico has to maintain a 3.0 grade point average to keep the scholarship.
