Students at Greenbrier West High School took home top honors this week at the Battle of the Belts.
The competition was hosted by the state to encourage teens to wear their seatbelts.
When tested by Sgt. Paul Blume with the Beckley City Police, more than 93 percent of students at the school were found to be wearing their seatbelts.
"Anybody that wears a seat belt is definitely safer than they would be without it. I do parking duty a lot and I always remind them to put their seatbelt on. It's just a very important safety measure," said Randy Auvil, Principal of Greenbrier West High School.
Students at the school were awarded $1,500 that will go toward safety improvements and money for prom.
