LEWISBURG -

Emergency personnel from federal, state and local agencies will converge on Greenbrier County Friday, April 20, in an emergency training exercise that will run from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Greenbrier Valley Airport.

The exercise, which will simulate a plane crash, is known as the Greenbrier Spring Fling FSX and is cosponsored by the Greenbrier County Homeland Security Emergency Management Office and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The exercise is designed to evaluate the response of all concerned agencies and to provide a learning environment to exercise emergency response plans. Numerous local experts have taken part in the planning process.

"This exercise is evidence of the growing public safety partnership between federal, state and local jurisdictions to prepare a thorough response to the threat of a plane crash and/or hazmat incident," said Al Whitaker, Director of Greenbrier County Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
