Children's Home Society Celebrates Mothers, Supports Kids in Need

Posted: Updated:

The Children's Home Society in Lewisburg is celebrating mothers throughout April and May.

On Friday, the child advocacy organization continued to kick off their Mother's Day campaign at the Stop-in in Fairlea.

From Monday through Mother's Day, participating stores in the Oil Marketers and Grocers Association (OMEGA) will be selling paper flowers to benefit the Children's Home Society of West Virginia.

"The statistics show being a mentor or even part of a foster home increases a child's likelihood they'll graduate from high school or even go on to college. It also reduces the chances they'll turn to substance abuse or behavior problems or run into legal issues," said Janet Richmond, the Site Manager in Lewisburg.

The Children's Home Society provides child welfare and advocacy services to more than 6 thousand children at 12 locations throughout the state.
