Early Voting Begins on Wednesday in West Virginia Primary

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -

Early voting for West Virginia's May 8 primary election starts this week.
    
The early voting period begins Wednesday and continues through May 5.
    
West Virginia elections officials say early voting is available at various county locations across the state during regular business hours and on the two Saturdays before the primary.
    
Officeholders facing primary opponents include U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), U.S. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin (D-W.Va.). Five Democrats are seeking the nomination to succeed retiring Agriculture Commissioner Gus Douglass, while six are running in the two-seat Supreme Court race.
