New mothers with depression may be keeping their babies up at night.

When it comes to appendicitis care, a new study shows the costs can fluctuate wildly.

Researchers analyzed close to 20,000 adults hospitalized in California for appendicitis.

The average cost per patient was about 33,000 dollars.

But some patients paid as little as $1500 while others were charged more than $180,000.

Researchers say even after taking into account different factors, more than 30-percent of the cost fluctuation couldn't be explained.
