Concord Holds Backyard Gardening Seminar

Posted: Updated:

Concord University is hosting a backyard gardening seminar Wednesday, April 25th in celebration of Earth Day.

Local organic farmer, Wendy Johnston of Oakwyn Farms and West Virginia University Extension Agent Jodi Richmond will discuss how backyard gardening provides many advantages for families and the environment.

Richmond will also be offering information to participants about an all-natural deer deterrent.

Concord University has received a donation of rare and heirloom vegetable and flower seeds from the Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company. Guests of the seminar will be given seed packets as long as supplies last. The donation is part of the company's "Seeds of Peace" program for education gardening projects for Earth Day.

The gardening seminar begins at 6 p.m. in Subway Sides on the ground floor of the Jerry L. Beasley Student Center. The event is free and open to the public.
