Figures released by the Secretary of State's office show 640,888 registered voters are Democrats, or about 52 percent. Another 352,304 voters are Republicans, or about 29 percent.
More than 17 percent of registered voters, 210,562, are independents with no party affiliation. Less than 1 percent, 1,286 voters, are Mountain Party members. The remaining 21,505 are registered with another political party.
Early voting begins Wednesday at county courthouses or courthouse annexes across the state. Early ballots can be cast during regular business hours.
The early voting period runs from Wednesday through April 28, and April 30 through May 5.
