State officials are proposing raising various taxes, including those on cigarettes, in order to raise money to repair the damaged highways.

Dogs from all breeds and all parts of the county are vying for Best in Show at the Beckley Kennel Club dog show in Fairlea this weekend.
The dog show kicked off Thursday at the state fairgrounds and organizer Nancy Bowman said professional handlers from all over the country are attending the annual event.
On Friday and Saturday the shows begin at 9 a.m. and wraps up at 3 p.m.
On Sunday, the show starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m.
Bowman said the public is invited to view the shows and only have to pay for parking.
