Princeton Fire Department to Host Bicycle Rodeo

PRINCETON -

On average, 250 children under the age of 14 die in the United States every year because of a bicycle crash. Thousands more are taken to hospitals or treated for head injuries that could have been prevented if they were wearing a helmet.

To help combat this problem, the Princeton Fire Department will be offering safety tips and giving away free bicycle helmets in recognition of Bicycle Safety Month. From 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., Saturday May 12, parents are encouraged to bring their child and their bikes to the Princeton Municipal Building at 100 Courthouse Road in Princeton.

The Princeton Police Department will have a bicycle obstacle course set up by Certified Bicycle Officer Josh Bish. Children will also have the chance to get a free safety check on their bike, as well as meeting with Applebee's Bee, Aaron's Lucky Dog and the Chic-fil-A Cow.
