HUNTINGTON -

The Marshall football team wrapped up the 2012 spring camp with the annual Green-White spring game on Saturday.

The Green squad, guided by quarterback Rakeem Cato, defeated the White team, 21-7.

Cato and new backup quarterback Blake Frohnaphel didn't throw the ball particularly well on Saturday, but the rainy conditions definitely had an impact on both players.

Cato went 15-for-29 for 169 yards and a touchdown, while Frohnaphel completed 10-of-19 for 96 yards.

Marshall's ground game made up the difference.

The Thundering Herd ran the ball 44 times for 150 yards and two touchdowns.

With Tron Martinez and Travon Van injured, that opened the door for the three players to step up.

Essray Taliaferro, Kevin Rodriguez and Remi Watson provided a balance attack for the Herd.

They combined for 27 careers for 139 yards and one touchdown.

The young defense played well, recording two sacks and forcing two fumbles, but didn't record any interceptions.
