WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS -
America's Resort turned into a women's powerhouse Monday for the Greenbrier's "Women in Leadership Conference."
More than 250 women came to the four-day conference to hear female business leaders speak about their triumphs and failures in the world of business.
Conference chair Cathie Black is the former president and publisher of USA Today and launched The Oprah magazine.
Black said the conference gives women confidence and advice on how to tackle their dreams.
"They will feel empowered. Whether it's to start their own business. Whether it's to accept the next promotion. Whether it's even to rethink their life. Are they really satisfied with what they're doing," said Black.
Black said it is no longer a man's world and women have the ability to balance their home and professional lives.
Other accomplished presenters said women have taken on more leadership at work than ever before.
"This is the time of the woman and that excitement is brought to this experience," said Christine McConnell, a presenter and business owner.
Whether you are starting a business, getting involved in a business, or learning more about the world of business, presenters said you need to have passion.
"I always say that you have to do something that you love. Something that you're good at and just go for it," Afi Lartey, president of Largess Affair.
Black said influential business women will be speaking about their experiences in business.
"For example the founder of Vera Bradley bag and accessories company was there talking about how literally she started her business, which I think is valued at two billion dollars, was started at her kitchen table," said Black.
Ann Compton, the White House Correspondent for ABC News said the presentations have encouraged women to find their special skill and embrace leadership roles.
"Even if you feel like you are starting small, even if it's an idea that others don't quite grasp, if your instinct says what you're doing is going to take you where you want to go, trust that and act on it," said Compton.
