FAIRLEA -

It's almost time to pull out the fancy hats and cheer on your favorite horse for the 18th annual Derby Day Celebration in Fairlea.

Each year during the Kentucky Derby, Gateway Industries hosts derby days and offer door prizes, catered food, a spectacular hat contest and a live auction, all for $35.

Gateway Industries is a non-profit organization that provides job placement for people with disabilities, and derby days is their yearly fundraiser.

"The most exciting two minutes in sports. There will be 400 horse race enthusiasts there and new this year, which you can see I'm wearing one, are fascinators made by local artist, Jessica Roczniak-Grist," said Phyllis Cantrell, executive director of Gateway Industries.

Derby Days will begin Saturday at 3:30 p.m. with a live band at in the Cecil Underwood building at the state fairgrounds.

The Kentucky Derby will be shown on multiple big screen televisions and participants can play "pick your favorite horse."

The celebration wraps up at 7:30 p.m.
