Laundry detergent is one of the most popular household items and according to numerous news outlets it's being shoplifted right off store shelves.
59 News conducted an experiment for viewers to find out which common liquid laundry detergent is the best purchase for what you pay at the supermarket.
More than 15 children at the Bullfrogs and Butterflies Daycare in Beckley participated in getting white t-shirts dirty.
Those dirty t-shirts were then taken to Family Coin Laundry to be washed with four separate detergents.
Tide, Cheer, All and Wal-Mart's brand Great Value were all tested in the experiment. Once the t-shirts were cleaned three mothers inspected the t-shirts for smell, stains, and which t-shirts came out the cleanest.
For the majority of the mothers confirmed Tide was the overall winner and was the most expensive at $7.54. Great Value was the least costly out of the four products at $4.00 and didn't hold up against the other detergents in the test. Cheer was $5.97 and came in second among the judges and All was next and cost $4.97.
