BECKLEY -

Students across the mountain state learned to dance their way to better fitness on Wednesday, May 2.

The West Virginia Physical Activity Plan teamed up with the worldwide movement known as Project ACES, which stands for All Children Exercise Simultaneously.  Project ACES is the signature program of the Youth Fitness Coalition and aims motivate children to exercise.

According to the WV Physical Activity Plan web site, 82,250 students from 264 West Virginia schools participated in the "World's Largest Exercise Class" as they danced to the Cha Cha Slide.  Project ACES has held this event on the first Wednesday in May since 1989.  It is part of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month.

Dozens of elementary, middle and high schools across the southern part of West Virginia are participating.  Shady Spring Middle School announced their schedule this morning.  Each grade will dance the Cha Cha Slide after lunch at 11:25 a.m., 12 p.m. and 12:35 p.m.
