Firefighters Promote Levy with Hot Dog Giveaway

BRADLEY -

Bradley-Prosperity Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Bobby Palmer wants to make sure that everyone in the area knows that, should a proposed Raleigh County Fire Levy fail to pass this election day, several county departments could be forced to shut down.

To raise awareness of the issue before votes are cast on Tuesday, two events have been planned for Saturday, May 5.

The Beckley Fire Department, on Eisenhower Drive, will be holding a hotdog giveaway from 10 a.m. until supplies run out. During this time, local firefighters will be giving anyone interested a free hot dog as well as information about the proposed levy. The event will be in the style of a drive through, and will offer citizens the chance to ask any questions they may have about the levy.

Also on Saturday, the Bradley Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting an open house from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at their station on Robert C. Byrd Drive. During this time, station members will be present to offer tours of the station and show demonstrate some of the equipment that could be repaired with levy funding.
