Clinton Talks Human Rights in China

Posted: Updated:

U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, is in China for economic talks, but so far, all of the attention has centered on Chen Guangcheng.  He triggered a diplomatic situation when he escaped house arrest and fled to the U.S. Embassy in Beijing.

Clinton kicked off meeting on Thursday, May 3, by urging China to pay attention to human rights issues.  China's president responded by saying China and the U.S. must respect each other even if they disagree.

Guangcheng left the U.S. Embassy on Wednesday, but now he says he fears for his family's safety.
