The organization Remember the Miners is continuing its investment in the future of the mining industry through its Spring 2012 Pritchard Mining Class Scholars Program.
There are 14 inductees to the program this spring. Jenna Ellison, Kelsie Blankenship, Ashton Cline, Daniel Brummage, Colling Morris, Bobbi Graham, Ronald Coon, Jr., Patrick Manley, Wanda McCune, LaTasha Mitchell, Matthew Curry, Robin Davis, Paige DeHart and Whitney Justice were collectively awarded $25,000. The money is given to miners, dependents of miners and student pursing higher education in the mining industry.
"We're excited for these men and women to continue their education in the coal industry," said Jason Parson with Remember the Miners. "By offering these scholarships to people of the coal community, we're educatin our future and providing opportunities for the next generation of miners."
The program was created in 2011 by Remember the Miners and the West Virginia Coal Foundation to support families of the West Virginia mining community. For more information check out the Remember The Miners web site.
