State officials are proposing raising various taxes, including those on cigarettes, in order to raise money to repair the damaged highways.
ATHENS -
The Concord University Alumni Association, Inc. will have its annual banquet on Friday, May 11, at University Point on the Athens campus.
A reception will begin at 5 p.m. on the patio of the John and Lucia Pais Family Fellowship Hall followed by dinner at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
The CUAA will present four awards to alumni for outstanding achievements and service. Awards being presented include Alumnus of the Year, Golden Alumnus, Outstanding Alumnus and Young Alumnus.
Concord's Class of 1962 will hold a 50th reunion, and the Class of 1987 will celebrate a 25th reunion.
Entertainment will be provided by the ConChords.
Cost for the banquet is $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Current CUAA members may attend the banquet for $20.
