U.S. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito has won the Republican primary election in the 2nd Congressional District, according to The Associated Press.

The AP declared Capito the winner in the three-candidate field at 8:45 p.m.

Capito ran against state Delegate Jonathan Miller, R-Berkeley and Michael Davis, a former teacher from Elkins.

With 15 of 557 precincts reporting, Capito was leading the race with 1,324 votes. Davis had 599 votes and Miller 41.
