BECKLEY -

Raleigh County's 87 precincts finished tallying votes just before 10 p.m. Tuesday night, leaving several interesting races for November's general election.

The controversial fire levy, which would leverage a tax on homeowners to help fund the county's volunteer fire departments, was adopted by a tentative margin of over 3,000 votes.

The county's hotly contested Assessor race ended with incumbent Drema Bias-Evans defeating  Jerry Zaferatos by over 1,000 votes.

In the night's only non-primary election, Rick Snuffer and Sally Susman both earned seats on the county's Board of Education after edging out nearest competitor George D. Wood by a narrow margin.
